María Bernad, the most influential Spaniard in Spanish fashion

Bernad

María Bernad (Elche, 1995) is a creative director, stylist and designer who lives in Madrid, although due to her international projection it is common to find her in any fashion capital. Her Instagram profile, where she has more than 312,000 followers, opens a window to her particular vision of fashion and her aesthetic references. María has a very particular style, where arty references, a timeless spirit and a lot of personality intermingle. Her weakness for retro aesthetics led her to found Les Fleurs, a sustainable vintage clothing brand, more than a year ago. With this label, María rescues old garments and gives them a second life, imbuing them with her unique sensibility.

With a degree in Fashion Design, the it-girl has been attracted to this world since she was a child. "My grandmother and my mother always sewed at home. They let me choose the fabrics and I have had the privilege of wearing the dresses my grandmother made for my mother when she was young," she says. So when the time came to decide what she wanted to do with her future, María didn't hesitate for a moment: she wanted to turn her passion into a job.

The young woman has a predilection for brands that defend the concept of slow fashion and tends to go for handmade or signature designs. She is inspired by Monet and Matisse, she loves powdery colours and has an individual, trend-conscious approach to fashion. "I always try to look for the authenticity of everything and with fashion nowadays, which is so fast and there are so many fast fashion brands, vintage is the only thing that remains", she reflects.
